Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Friday, May 23, 9:44 p.m. East 850 South and South SR 13, Warsaw. Driver: Amanda F. Harper, 35, North Main Street, South Whitley. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000

Friday, May 23, 5:27 p.m. 201 S. Main St., Leesburg. Driver: Ellen Wallen, 57, Pine Mills Road, Warsaw. Wallen was pulling into the Freedom Express gas station when the accelerator of her vehicle stuck. Unable to stop the vehicle, it struck a barrier pole. Damages: up to $10,000

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Friday, May 23, 4:23 p.m. 315 N. Detroit St. Drivers: Kensey L. Nieveen, 21, East Old Road 30, Warsaw; and Thomas R. Dominjan, 53, Mackinack Point, Frankfort, Ill. Nieveen was backing from a parking space and collided with Dominjan’s vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000

Friday, May 23, 1:52 p.m. North Detroit and Jalynn streets. Drivers: Vondarene Perkins, 38, Fisher Avenue, Warsaw; and Tony E. Lloyd, 65, Bobwhite Drive, Warsaw. Perkins said she failed to see any brake lights on Lloyd’s vehicle, which was stopped for a red light, and collided into the back of it. Damages: up to $1,000

Friday, May 23, 12:12 p.m. 3701 Commerce Dr. Drivers: Katina J. Robinson, 40, EMS W32 Lane, North Webster; and Bernice Morie, 51, West Leigh Drive, Warsaw. Robinson began backing from her parking space as Morie was already in the process of backing up and collided with Morie. Damages: up to $1,000

Friday, May 23, 11:39 a.m. East Center and North Hickory streets. Drivers: Nikole K. Becknell, 30, North Saint Clair Court, Warsaw; and Rita K. Hyde, 67, West 125 North, Etna Green. Both were traveling west on Center Street. The officer determined Becknell failed to yield to Hyde as both drivers were going to turn left on Detroit Street. The officer also determined Hyde failed to use the turn lane properly and was passing in a no passing zone. Damages: up to $2,500

Friday, May 23, 10:49 a.m. North Detroit Street and Plaza Drive. Drivers: Ericka L. Sutton, 18, Sharon Street, Winona Lake; and Emmanuel R. Long, 23, North Old SR 15, Warsaw. Sutton was pulling from the Arby’s parking lot and said she failed to see Long traveling northbound on Detroit Street on a motorcycle. She pulled into his path. Long said he braked so hard he was thrown from the motorcycle. The vehicles collided. Sutton complained of head pain and was treated on scene. Long was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of a leg injury. Damages: up to $5,000

Friday, May 23, 8:51 a.m. 1150 Husky Trl. Driver: Nikkole L. Greer, 26, Kuder Lane, Warsaw. Greet was attempting to pull into a parking space and collided with a parked vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500

  • Saturday, May 24, 7:07 a.m. Officers were called to the 600 block of West Section Street for a non-criminal report.
  • Friday, May 23, 8:45 a.m. A mower kicked a rock up and broke our a car window.

 

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:

  • Friday, May 23, 7:53 p.m. A burglary/breaking and entering and theft was reported in the 300 block of North Roosevelt Street. Two large flat screen TVs were stolen for a value of $1,100.
  • Friday, May 23, 5:07 p.m. A domestic battery was reported in the 600 block of East Main Street. Robert Plebanski Jr. was arrested.
  • Friday, 7:51 a.m. Damaged property was reported in the 300 block of East Prairie Street.

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Sunday, May 25, 4:09 a.m. South 1300 West near West 700 South, Mentone. Driver: Jennifer L. Hyser, 36, East SR 14, Claypool. Hyser ran off the side of the road and struck a utility pole. She failed a field sobriety test and registered a .085 BAC on a portable breathlyzer test. She was taken to for a certified chemical test and passed with a .07 percent result. Damages: up to $25,000

Saturday, May 24, 9:33 p.m. East Old Road 30 and North 650 East, Warsaw. Driver: Courtney E. Obergfell, 26, East Market Street, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000

Saturday, May 24, 2:13 p.m. 85 EMS B29 Lane, Pierceton. Driver: Michael P. Mason, 67, Valley O Pines Parkway, Fort Wayne. Driver backed into a parked car. Damages: up to $2,500


Warsaw Police Department

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Sunday, May 25, 12:40 p.m. SR 15 North and CR 350 North, Warsaw. Drivers: Margaret M. Plank, 22, CR 56, Syracuse; and Matthew E. Dudlak, 36, West Harper Lake Road, Kimmell. Plank was southbound on SR 15 and failed to stop for traffic that was backed up. Damages: up to $2,500

Saturday, May 24, 9:46 p.m. 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw. Driver: Paula K. Ousley, 65, EMS C28E Lane, Warsaw. Driver struck a light pole. Damages: up to $2,500

Saturday, May 24, 12:27 p.m. 3660 Commerce Dr. Driver: Danielle M. Foreman, 17, West Main Street, Warsaw. Driver struck a parked car. Damages: up to $5,000

  • Sunday, May 25, 2:03 a.m. Police were called to the Aloha Bar where Kevin Wilson was arrested for battery.
  • Saturday, May 24, 12:08 p.m. Brandon Jones was arrested in the 500 block of West Center Street, Warsaw, for dealing marijuana.
  • Saturday, May 24, 10:59 a.m. Ryan M. Slone was arrested in the 1000 block of North Warren Street for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
  • Saturday, May 24, 12:15 a.m. A battery occurred at the Time Out where a victim was struck in the head with a beer mug causing a severe laceration. An investigation is on-going.

Monday, May 26, 11:39 a.m. 1701 E. Center St. Drivers: Louise Hopkins, 71, Kuder Lane, Warsaw; and Carol R. Forbes, 76, Camelot Drive, Winona Lake. Hopkins was backing from a parking space at Ace Hardware and backed into the Forbes vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accident:

Tuesday, May 27, 4:39 p.m. North 800 West and West 100 North, Atwood. Driver: Nathaniel J. Goffinet, 36, Shively Road, Lakeville. Police were dispatched to a call of an impaired driver and located Goffinet’s car in a ditch. Police report Goffinet seemed confused and did not know where he was and stated that he was diabetic and believed his sugar crashed. Medics at the scene treated Goffinet. Damages: up to $1,000

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accident:

Tuesday, May 27, 2:24 p.m. Lake City Highway and Access Drive. Drivers: Gus C. Katris, 78, East Turnberry Road, Winona Lake; and C.J. Woodruff, 75, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. While crossing Lake City Highway, Katris stated that he “turned too soon” and struck the rear of Woodruff’s vehicle as he crossed Lake City Highway going northbound. Damages: up to $2,500

  • Saturday, May 24, 3:30 p.m. North Main Street. Lakeland Kiwanis reported that during the Kiwanis Club’s chicken barbecue a portable generator was taken.
  • Friday, May 23, 9:58 a.m. North 700 East, Leesburg. Roy Graham Chapman reported a stolen license plate from a boat trailer.

Accident

Friday, May 23, 5:30 p.m. SR 13 and Epworth Forest Road. Vehicles driven by Dennis L. Hartleroad, North 750 East, North Webster, and Gabrielle J. Routson, North 750E, Syracuse, collided. No damage amounts given.

Arrest

  • Friday, May 23, 1:56 a.m. South Main Street. A vehicle driven by Shawn Casey Smoker, 26, EMS T7B Lane, Leesburg, was observed traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and Smoker was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for OWI with a prior. He was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail, Warsaw. Bond: $1,000 cash

Thursday, May 29, 1:06 p.m. North 1000 West and West 1050 North, Nappanee. Driver: Travis A. Mast, 19, North 1000 West, Nappanee. Mast said he fell asleep while driving and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $10,000

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Friday, May 30, 5:01 a.m. South County Farm Road and Park Ridge Drive. Driver: Marie Brito-Gonzalez, 26, Wooster Road, Winona Lake. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $10,000

Thursday, May 29, 4:26 p.m. East Winona Avenue and South Indiana Street. Drivers: Dustin A. McClone, 37, South Kinsey Road, Claypool; and Steven R. Warner, 18, South Valentine Road, Claypool. McClone said he was southbound on Indiana Street, stopped at the stop sign, but failed to see Warner’s vehicle approaching from the east and pulled into its path. Damages: up to $10,000

Thursday, May 29, 3:38 p.m. South Buffalo Street near Fisher Avenue. Drivers: Kathryn M. Stemen, 29, North Parks Schram Road, Warsaw; and Jeremy K. Marvel, 28, Cambridge Drive, Warsaw. Stemen failed to notice Marvel was stopped, waiting to make a left turn and collided with the rear of the vehicle. Damages: up to $25,000

Thursday, May 29, 2:41 p.m. Indiana and Center streets. Bicyclist: Craig Best, 17, Hartzler Street, Warsaw; and Driver: Harla D. Sparks, 61, South Grant Street, Warsaw. Sparks was turning from Indiana Street onto Center Street when Best rode into her path. Best was illegally riding on the sidewalk and disregarded the pedestrian signal. He sustained minor bleeding to his elbow but his mother refused EMS services. Damages: up to $1,000

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Monday, June 2, 1:38 a.m. South 275 East near East 225 South, Warsaw. Driver: James W. Crace, 25, Sunday Lane, Winona Lake. Crace was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop at the intersection. The vehicle collided with a Kosciusko County Bikeways sign. Crace returned to the roadways but collided with several other objects. Witnesses reported that Crace attempted to leave the scene on foot. Crace tested at .19 on a portable breathalyzer machine. Damages: up to $5,000

Saturday, June 1, 9:59 p.m. U.S. 30 near Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Byron K. Paulus, 64, Brindle Path Lane, Niles, Mich. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $10,000

Saturday, May 31, 6:15 p.m. First Street near Church Street, Pierceton. Drivers: William D. Mort, 25, First Street, Pierceton; and Ashley M. Elliott, 24, Woodland Lane, Warsaw. Mort was trying to exit the Dollar General parking lot and collided with Elliott. Damages: up to $10,000

Saturday, May 31, 5:47 p.m. East 1150 North near North 150 East, Warsaw. Driver: Judith A. Kline, 69, Dove Lane, Milford. Kline’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a mailbox. Damages: up to $2,500

Saturday, May 31, 5:04 p.m. North 300 East near East Browser Road, Syracuse. Driver: Olivia N. Huffman, 17, East 1000 North, Syracuse. Huffman lost control of her vehicle, over-corrected and rolled the vehicle. A parent arrived on the scene, and Huffman refused medical treatment. Damages: up to $10,000

Duffield’s vehicle rolled over after the initial collision. Duffield’s passenger, Daymian Page, was sent to KCH for a head injury. All others involved were treated by EMS at the scene. Friday, May 30, 4:48 p.m. Lake City Highway near Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Paula A. Shank, 47, South 775 East, Pierceton; Morgan R. Casner, 21, West 400 North, Warsaw; Reynaldo Martinez, 60, EMS C19 Lane, Warsaw; and Tyler J. Nix, 29, Buena Vista Boulevard, Fort Wayne. Shank rear-ended Casner, who was pushed into Martinez, who was pushed into Nix. No drivers required medical attention. Damages: up to $10,000
