  • Saturday, May 10, 6:02 p.m. Theft of a cell phone reported in the 1400 block of Rivercrest Drive in Warsaw.
  • Saturday, May 10, 11:07 a.m. Hit and run reported in the 11500 block of Syracuse-Webster Road in Syracuse.
  • Friday, May 9, 11:05 p.m. Criminal mischief – damaged mailbox – reported at 11400 block of North 375 East in Syracuse.

  • Sunday, May 11, 10:28 p.m. Theft of a wallet reported at 800 block of Market Street in Warsaw.
  • Sunday, May 11, 8:26 p.m. Domestic battery reported at 900 block of Oak Brook Place in Warsaw. Rene Rodriguez was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
  • Sunday, May 11, 1:03 a.m. Forced entry reported at 500 block of McCleallan Street in Warsaw.
  • Saturday, May 10, 6:44 p.m. Theft reported at Wal-Mart Supercenter at Walton Blvd. in Warsaw.
  • Saturday, May 10, 2:03 p.m. Damaged property reported at the 900 block of Winona Avenue in Warsaw. A truck and trailer knocked down phone and cable lines.
  • Saturday, May 10, 1:10 p.m. Theft reported 500 block of McClellan Street in Warsaw.
  • Friday, May 9, 12:45 p.m. Officers responded to Comfort Inn and Suites at 3300 block of Kosciusko Drive regarding a welfare check. A meth lab and stolen property were discovered.

North Webster
North Webster Police Department investigated the following incidents and accidents and made the following arrest:

Incidents

Monday, May 12, 12:42 p.m. East Washington Street. A juvenile was struck by a vehicle while riding a skate board. After being knocked to the ground, the victim had scrapes and scratches but no serious injuries. The vehicle left the scene.

Thursday, May 8, 8:24 p.m. South Main Street. Freedom Express reported the driver of a maroon Pontiac Montanna left the gas station without paying for $43 worth of fuel.

Friday, May 2, 10:35 a.m. South Main Street. An employee of the Housing Assistance Office reported a lost license plate from a trailer sometime during the past 2 weeks.

Accident

Saturday, May 3, 8:51 p.m  SR 13. Luke M. Tuttle, Harrison Court, Syracuse, was driving a vehicle that hit a deer. No further information given.

Thursday, May 1, 10:45 p.m. East 500 North. Deanna G. Ogburn, North 900 East, North Webster, was driving a vehicle that hit a deer. No further information given.

Arrest

Saturday, May 3, 1:45 a.m. South East Street. Justin Lee Straka, 33, North 600 East, North Manchester, was observed driving a vehicle with expired plates and stopped. He was found to be intoxicated and arrested for OWI with a BAC greater or equal to .15 percent. He was incarcerated at the Kosciusko County Jail, Warsaw. Bond: $550 cash.

  • Monday, May 19, 12:09 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a domestic fight at the 100 block of EMS B34 Lane in Warsaw.
  • Sunday, May 18, 11:48 p.m. Burglary reported at the 3100 block of Pierceton Road in Warsaw.
  • Friday, May 17, 10:53 p.m. Criminal mischief – eggs being thrown at passing vehicles -reported at the 4300 block of Lighthouse Drive in Warsaw.

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Sunday, May 18, 12:12 p.m. SR 19 near West 200 South, Mentone. Driver: Gerald L. Troyer, 60, Heather Blvd., Nappanee. Driver struck a deer. Troyer was on a motorcycle, which went on its side and slid off the road after impact. Troyer was flown to Parkview Hospital. Damages: up to $25,000

Sunday, May 18, 6:39 a.m. SR 15 near West 600 North, Leesburg. Driver: Cordel D. King, 18, Higbee Street, Milford. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000

Saturday, May 17, 11:39 p.m. SR 15 near Dawn Drive, Silver Lake. Driver: Donna J. Beck, 53, Rochester. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000

Saturday, May 17, 4:51 p.m. Old Road 30 near 600 East, Warsaw. Driver: Christopher Boutcher, 29, Hickory Street, North Webster; Stan E. Budd, 32, US 33, Ligonier. Boutcher rear-ended Budd and fled the scene. Budd was able to get a plate number, and Boutcher was located by officers. Boutcher admitted to leaving the scene and alcohol was determined to be a factor in the accident. Damages: up to $2,500.

Saturday, May 17, 9:48 a.m. East 450 North near North 375 East, Leesburg. Driver: Amanda L. Fretz, 38, Sawgrass Lane, Leesburg. Driver struck a deer and drove off the roadway, striking a mailbox and utility pole. Fretz was transported to KCH for pain in her hand and fingers. Damages: up to $10,000

Friday, May 16, 4:06 p.m. SR 15 near South 150 West, Warsaw. Drivers: Bradley I. Bibler, 19, Shaffer Road, Warsaw; Laura L. Wittner, 35, Walnut, Roann. Bibler veered across the center line after checking his cellphone, resulting in a collision with Wittner. Wittner and her passenger, Wesley L. Shaefer of Silver Lake, were treated by EMS at the scene. Damages: up to $25,000

  • Monday, May 19, 3:41 p.m. East Washington Street. Henry M. Lewis reported a license plate was stolen from vehicle. It was last known to be on the vehicle April 16.
  • Monday, May 19, 2:48 p.m. West Tanya Avenue.  Jessica La Gro Losee reported criminal mischief damage was done to the siding of residence.
  • Wednesday, May 14, 7:29 a.m. North Center Street West,  Amy Ren Jones had vehicle’s tires slashed and words scratched in the hood while it was parked in driveway.

Accident

Friday, May 16, 3:28 p.m. South East Street. A vehicle struck a building at the residence of Thomas L.  and Sonya R.Wroblewski  and fled the scene. The vehicle and driver were later located. Damage estimate up to $10,000.

Arrests

  • Sunday, May 18, 12:59 a.m. SR 13. Officer conducted a traffic stop of noting a vehicle driving left of center. The driver, Jonathan Tyler Snyder, 23, North Detroit Street, Warsaw, was found to be intoxicated, He was arrested for OWI with a BAC .08 to .14 percent and taken to the Kosciusko County Jail. Bond: $550 cash.
  • Thursday, May 15, 7:20 p.m. South Main Street. Cory Eugene Iden, 30, Crystal Flash Road, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. He was taken to the county jail. Bond: $2,000 surety.
  • Tuesday, May 13, 7:31 p.m. Backwater Road. Officers were called to a scene where an intoxicated male, David Eric Rosbrugh, 29, Backwater Roadd, was being beligerant. He attempted to walk toward a male subject while saying he would harm the subject. Officers prevent Rosbrugh from doing so and he was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the county jail. Bond: $350 cash.

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Thursday, May 22, 7:20 p.m. North 400 East near East 200 North, Warsaw. Drivers: Clarke T. Rutledge, 52, East 200 North, Warsaw; Charles L. Leiter, 51, Arbor Lane, Winona Lake. Rutledge failed to yield the right of way, colliding with Leiter, who was operating a motorcycle. Leiter’s motorcycle overturned, and he complained of shoulder pain at the scene. Though no medical treatment was reported. Damages: up to $5,000

Wednesday, May 21, 7:44 p.m. SR 13 near North 400 West, North Webster. Drivers: Jonathon J. Collins, 27, Mark Anthony Crossing, Fort Wayne; Darrell L. Clark, 56, East 400 North, Leesburg. Collins attempted to pass Clark, who was turning, resulting in a side-swipe collision. Damages: up to $10,000

Thursday, May 22, 12:35 p.m. 3000 block of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Gordon F. Petty, 60, White Pine Road, Warsaw; Michelle Osborn-Harter, 38, Mineral Springs Ave., Winona Lake. Petty backed into Osborn-Harter’s parked vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000

Wednesday, May 21, 11:11 a.m. Jefferson Street near Argonne Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Stephanie N. Wight, 18, Primrose Court, Warsaw; Kathy J. Bowman, 66, East 100 North, Warsaw. Wight and Bowman collided in the intersection of Jefferson and Argonne. Wight believes she ran a red light, and Bowman stated she did not have valid insurance. Damages: up to $2,500

Wednesday, May 21, 9:04 a.m. Detroit Street near Main Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Lynne L. Hamman, 71, CR 21, Goshen; Daisy M. Hollon, 36, Colfax Street, Warsaw. Hamman drove into the passenger side of Hollon’s vehicle. EMS and Warsaw Fire were called to the scene, but no one required treatment. Damages: up to $25,000

Tuesday, May 20, 5:22 p.m. 100 block of Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: James W. Ellis, 58, SR 15, New Paris; Janice Skeans, 57, West 800 North, Nappanee. Due to an obstructed view, Ellis struck the front fender of Skeans’ vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500

Tuesday, May 20, 7:07 p.m. 3000 block of Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Michael R. Prater, 56, Brubaker Street, Warsaw. Prater struck a parked car. Damages: up to $2,500

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following incident:

  • Wednesday, May 21, 8:19 p.m. Officers observed a a vehicle driving recklessly on SR 13 near Grandview Drive in Syracuse. A traffic stop was performed and David William Akridge, 22, of Syracuse, was cited for reckless driving.
  • Tuesday, May 20, 3:15 p.m. A black 2001 Pontiac Montana, registered to Jaclyne Jean Messer or Warsaw, was reported stolen from the 300 block of Levi Lee Road in Warsaw.

Officers of the Milford Police Department recently investigated the following incident:

  • Friday, May 23, 8:49 a.m. Damaged property reported at 100 block of South Main Street in Milford. A lawnmower propelled a rock into a car window, breaking it.

  • Thursday, May 22, 8:13 a.m. Officers recovered a stolen vehicle, registered to Troy A. Sell of Bourbon, behind Marsh Grocery on Buffalo Street in Warsaw.
  • Wednesday, May 21, 2:59 p.m. Shoplifting reported at Warsaw Family Eyecare at the 3500 block of SR 15 in Warsaw. The incident is still under investigation.
  • Tuesday, May 20, 11:53 a.m. License plate reported stolen at the 1000 block of Greene Drive in Warsaw.
