Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a head-on crash from this morning that required two drivers to be airlifted from the scene near Mentone.
KCSD deputies and emergency personal were dispatched at 9:51 a.m. to a head-on crash, east of CR 1000W on SR 25. Responders arrived from Mentone EMS and Fire Department and began extrication of the two drivers, who were both airlifted from the scene by Parkview Samaritan.
Preliminary scene investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT team determined that a 2000 Mercury, driven by George E. May, 55, Rochester, had traveled across the centerline of SR 25 and struck a 2004 Volvo driven by Tyler L. Landrum, 17, Mentone.
Both May and Landrum were airlifted in serious condition to Parkview, Fort Wayne, with various injuries to their lower and upper extremities.
The crash is still currently under investigation. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by members of the Mentone Fire Department, Burket Fire Department, Life-Med EMS and the Mentone EMS.
