Officers of the North Webster Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:

  • Saturday, Aug. 11, 11:44 a.m. North East Street. A windshield on a vehicle belonging to Bobbi Worboys was broken while parked at residence.
  • Thursday, Aug. 9, 5 p.m. South Main Street. Freedom Express reported a large red SUV drove off without paying for $96.68 in gas.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following incident:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 13, 7:56 p.m. A domestic battery was reported in the 9700 block of Rock-A-Bye Road, Cromwell. Cecelia L. Hiatt, 56, of 9758 E. Rock-A-Bye Rd., was arrested for battery.

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 13, 3:05 p.m. McArthur Counseling Center in the Center Center reported a woman was in the business causing damages. She then locked herself in the bathroom of the business and threatened to commit suicide.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1:09 p.m. A Warsaw man reported to police that he believed his daughter’s identity was being used by someone in Warsaw.

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1:47 p.m. South Washington and West Center streets. Drivers: Jeannine M. Boyer, 68, North Lake Street, Warsaw; and Ellen L. Wolff, 55, West John Road, Warsaw. Boyer pulled from the PNC parking lot but failed to see Wolff’s approaching vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 3:59 p.m. Lake City Highway and East Old Road 30. Drivers: Debra K. Moorman, 54, EMS W30A1 Lane, North Webster; and Juan R. Barbosa, 24, Sand Castle Drive, Warsaw. Moorman was westbound on Lake City Highway and looked down to get her cell phone, which was ringing. She failed to see the light turn red and proceeded into the intersection where she was struck by Barbosa, who had the green light and was attempting to cross the highway. Damages: up to $5,000

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 4:03 p.m. East Center and South Detroit streets. Drivers: Sherri J. Gephart, 46, North Main Street, Claypool; and John R. White, 87, Gilliam Drive, Warsaw. Gephart said her foot slipped off of the brake causing her vehicle to collide into the back of White’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500

  • Wednesday, Aug. 14, 7:27 a.m. Owens Service Station on East Center Street reported the theft of $23.46 in gasoline. A white, male subject pumped fuel and left without paying.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 14, 10:10 p.m. Jeanenne Wright reported an attempted residential entry to a residence in the 3000 block of Old Colony Road, Warsaw.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following incidents:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 14, 8:45 a.m. Harold Waldrop reported a daytime burglary and theft from a residence in the 8500 block of North 500 East, Syracuse. A patio door was damaged when the intruder(s) broke into the home. A TV was stolen. Estimated loss: $1,300
  • Wednesday, Aug. 14, 5:10 p.m. Lisa Rinker reported criminal mischief at a residence in the 11500 block of North SR 13, Syracuse. Approximately $1,220 in damages occurred.

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Wednesday, Aug. 14, 8:17 p.m. Lake City Highway and South 250 East, Warsaw. Drivers: Theresa A. Clark, 53, Indian Trail, Warsaw; and Cole J. Graham, 17, Pine Cone Lane, Warsaw. Officers were called to a report of a power outage at the intersection and, while police cars were parked in the intersection with lights activated to assist motorists until INDOT could repair the stoplight, Clark disregarded the police vehicles and struck Graham’s vehicle, which was northbound through the intersection. Damages: up to $10,000

Wednesday, Aug. 14, 4:48 p.m. Lake City Highway and Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Ryan W. Faulkner, 30, Walnut Creek Boulevard, Warsaw; Robert D. Watson, 42, M Dee Acres, Nappanee; Austin B. Wagner, 28, Windsor Drive, Churubusco; and Tammy M. Conliff, 36, South SR 19, Akron. Faulkner said he was westbound on Lake City Highway and had looked away from the road. When he looked back, he saw traffic was stopped, but was not able to stop before striking Watson’s vehicle. The collision resulted in a chain reaction collision. Watson complained of neck pain. Damages: up to $50,000

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accident:

Wednesday, Aug. 14, 4:22 p.m. North SR 15 and West 350 North, Warsaw. Drivers: Buddy E. Kuczewski, 66, North Old SR 15, Leesburg; and Erika M. Green, 22, South Cherry Creek Lane, Warsaw. Kuczewski said he looked down and when he looked up he saw traffic had stopped in front of him. He was unable to avoid hitting the back of Green’s vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000
Syracuse Police Department
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accident:

Thursday, Aug. 15, 5:20 a.m. South Huntington Street and CR 1300 North, Syracuse. Driver: Drew A. Rosenberry, . Rosenberry stopped at the intersection but failed to see an approaching bicyclist and pulled into his path. Robert D. Bowers of Syracuse collided with the driver’s side door of the vehicle. Bowers refused medical attention. Damages: up to $1,000

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accident:

Monday, Aug. 19, 12:43 p.m. East 200 South and South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Brian J. Marks, 24, Country Club Road, Warsaw; and Michael French, 59, West Clinton Street, Augusta, Mich. Marks failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with French’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Tuesday, Aug. 20, 9:01 a.m. East Winona Avenue and South Detroit Street. Drivers: Lori L.  Wildman, 49, Freedom Lane, Winona Lake; and Stacey E. Brown, 38, East 500 South, Warsaw. Wildman rear-ended a school bus, driven by Brown, at the railroad crossing. Damages: up to $5,000

Monday, Aug. 19, 3:54 p.m. South Union Street and West Winona Avenue. Drivers: Peter F. Barnett, 40, Sally Street, Warsaw; and Jessica G. Hayes, 30, Rieder Street, Warsaw. Barnett collided into the rear of Hayes’ vehicle at a stop sign. Damages: up to $2,500

Monday, Aug. 19, 1:24 p.m. 2924 Frontage Rd. Drivers: Jay H. Gearhart, 18, Woodbourne Drive, Waterford, Mich.; and Kristen N. Allen, 20, East Bowser Road, Syracuse. Gearhart failed to stop at the access road and into the path of Allen’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000

Winona Lake Police Department
Officers of the Winona Lake Police Department recently investigated the following accident:

Monday, Aug. 19, 2:28 p.m. Chestnut and 13th streets. Drivers: Robert L. Wulliman, 75, Chestnut Street, Winona Lake; and Erik A. Fussel, 27, 14th Street, Winona Lake. Wulliman backed into Fussel while making a turn into a driveway. Damages: up to $5,000

Monday, Aug. 19, 8:35 a.m. St. Andrews Road East and Liverpool Road, Winona Lake. Unknown driver. Don Huber reported his vehicle had been side-swiped sometime while parked in front of his home. Damages: up to $2,500

Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 5:49 a.m. Boston Street, alley north of 309 N. Boston St. Drivers: Susan A. Clow, 55, East County Line Road, Syracuse; and and Jenna M. Akers, 20, East Polyanna Place, Cromwell. A vehicle parked at the intersection blocked Clow’s view when she turned from the alley onto Boston Street, colliding with Aker’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000

Incidents
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:

  • Sunday, 12:48 a.m. Kathleen B. Blood, North Sandpoint Drive, Cromwell, reported her wallet containing cash and various personal items was taken from her vehicle.
  • Saturday, Police were notified of a rape which allegedly occurred in Syracuse. The matter is being investigated.
  • Friday, 2:19 p.m. Charlotte L. Smith, Meadow View Lane, Syracuse, reported prescription medication stolen.


Arrest
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently made the following arrest:

  • Monday, 6:17 a.m. Carlos L. Delagarza, 26, Short Street, Nappanee, arrested for driving while suspended. He was stopped at Syracuse-Milford Road and Kern Road for speeding. Bond: $300

Officers of the North Webster Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:

  • Sunday, Aug. 18, 8:24 p.m. South Main Street. Melanie Scott was issued a trespass warning for Freedom Express.
  • Friday, Aug. 16, 6:44 p.m. South Main Street. A customer passed a counterfeit $20 bill at Freedom Express. Investigation continues.
  • Thursday, Aug. 15, North Blaine Street. Carlos Rodrigues requested a trespass warning for his residence be issued to Christian McQuade.
  • Monday, Aug. 12, 8:29 p.m. South Harrison Street. Officer responded to loud yelling coming from residence. The parties involved requested no police involvement. Report sent to Kosciusko County Prosecutor for review due to children being in the home during the incident.
  • Saturday, Aug. 17, 1:33 a.m. North SR 15, Leesburg. While working at a DUI checkpoint, a motorcycle came through. The driver, Dennis E. Plank, 42, Southwood Drive, Warsaw, was tested for alcohol and then taken for a certified breath test. While taking inventory of the bike, marijuana and paraphernalia was found in the saddle bag. Plank was charged with possession and arrested.

Accidents
Officers of the North Webster Police Department recently investigated the following:

Friday, Aug. 16, 7:15 p.m. SR 13. Drivers: Rachelle N. Whitaker, West 100 North, LaGrange; Jack C. Rhoades, North 700 East, Leesburg. Whitaker collided with Rhoades vehicle. No ages or damage amounts given.

Sunday, Aug. 11, 2:17 p.m. Main and Washington streets. Vehicle driven by George T. Dvorak, EMS T 13 Lane, Leesburg, collided with a vehicle driven by Mark R. Alspaugh, Center Street, Warsaw. Dvorak drove off but was later located. He was issued a citation for leaving the scene of a property damage accident. No ages or damage amounts given.
