WARSAW — A Pierceton man was recently arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman with a knife and calling her a zombie.

Richard Lee Clutter, 45, 105 E. Church St., Pierceton, is charged with domestic battery while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On March 5, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman who said that a man, later identified as Clutter, made statements about killing himself with a shotgun and showed her a video displaying his intentions. Clutter then entered a spare bedroom, closing the door behind him. According to court documents, the woman opened the door to check on Clutter. He told the woman she was a zombie and then allegedly stabbed her in the face below the eye with a knife.

The officer noticed a cut underneath the woman’s left eye.

Clutter admitted to entering the bedroom and arguing with the woman about women at a bar. The officer also found a knife in the bedroom Clutter was in.

Clutter has an initial hearing regarding this case on Thursday, March 19.

On March 8, a Warsaw Police officer went to a residence in regards to a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with Davis, who said a man came to the residence to drop off three children. According to court documents, Davis said one of the children was allowed to get their haircut by the man. This caused an argument between Davis and the man. This argument occurred at the top of a stairway; Davis said she became angry and pushed the man down the stairs.

In total, four children and another man were present in the residence when this occurred.

Mentone Woman Sentenced In Child Molesting Case

Jasmine Sue Davis

WARSAW — A Mentone woman will serve four years in prison if she is not accepted into a community corrections program after molesting a minor in 2019.

Jasmine Sue Davis, 19, 204 N. Franklin St., Mentone, was charged with child molesting, a level 4 felony.

Davis was sentenced in Kosciusko Superior Court 1 on Thursday, March 19.

On Oct. 9, 2019, Child Protective Services contacted Warsaw Police officers after receiving information that Davis had intercourse with a minor sometime in September 2019 in Kosciusko County.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Brad Voelz said the county’s prosecution department has attempted contact with the victim since the incident occurred but has had no success.

Defense Attorney Adam Turner called Davis’ case a “unique situation.” Turner said Davis started a relationship with the victim online and didn’t know the victim’s true age initially.

“Jasmine is mentally sharp and has a great work ethic,” said Turner. “She’s not a predator, but an immature adult who didn’t make the right decision.”

Turner also said Davis has undergone voluntary counseling, is employed and has a strong community network.

“There are a lot of people who care about what happens to Jasmine,” said Turner. “She would respond positively to a suspended sentence, but I also understand the severity of the charge.”

“I should’ve walked away but I didn’t,” said Davis. “I’m sorry.”

Judge David Cates sentenced Davis to six years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with two years of the sentence suspended on probation. Cates said he had no objection to Davis serving the executed portion of her sentence through Michiana Community Corrections if she is qualified.

“This is on you, not the victim,” said Cates. “This was not a mistake, but a choice. I’m counting on your strong network, but I’m mostly counting on you.”

WARSAW — A man faces charges after an alleged auto theft caused a police pursuit.

Michael Andreas Priester, 22, 708 Steinman Dr., Fort Wayne, was charged with theft and resisting law enforcement, both level 6 felonies.

Michael Andreas Priester

On March 5, an officer with North Webster police received information regarding the theft of a red Chevrolet S10 pickup truck. After obtaining the license plate number, the officer found the same vehicle traveling south on SR 13 near the National Weather Service Station, said the affidavit of probable cause.

Police caught up with the vehicle. In a refusal to stop for the emergency lights on the police vehicle, the truck slowed to about 22 mph and turned left onto Epworth Forest Road. This started a pursuit that reached speeds of 90 mph. The truck left the roadway at least twice and made several turns, said the affidavit.

The truck ran over stop sticks placed by police. The chase ended in Noble County at CR 300W near CR 50S.

Police identified Priester as the driver of the stolen truck. Priester admitted he took the truck from the victim’s residence, said the affidavit.

On March 5, Priester was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail. He was later released of his own recognizance.
