  • 2:59 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 400 block of East CR 1150N, Milford. Jason Hudson reported criminal mischief. Officers discovered a broken window at the residence but the suspect was gone.
  • 10:03 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 400 block of East CR 1150N, Milford. Ashley Zentz reported a theft of documents from a vehicle.

  • 1:12 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 4200 block of Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Evelyn Chavez reported damage to her vehicle while it was parked at an apartment complex.
  • 12:27 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2100 block of East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Oscar Garcia Jr. reported suspicious activity on his credit report.
  • 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 3600 block of North CR 175E, Warsaw. Lora Shelton reported the theft of a license plate.
  • 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2200 block of East Center Street, Warsaw. Jeralyn Weaver reported damage to her car door.

10:54 a.m. Monday, March 19, East CR 500N and EMS T7 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Mark Whealy, 58, EMS W30B Lane, North Webster. Whealy’s vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. Damages up to $2,500. 

Warsaw

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

4:08 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, North Detroit and East Main streets, Warsaw. Drivers: Anjil Bradley, 26, Runkle Drive, Warsaw, and Ken Anderson, 34, West CR 800S, Claypool. Damages up to $25,000. Bradley was preparing to turn left onto Main Street when she heard a siren and attempted to clear the intersection. Bradley turned her vehicle quickly and struck Anderson’s vehicle. Both drivers refused medical treatment.

3:48 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, Fisher Avenue and Kincaide Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Alan Stackhouse, 50, West CR 700S, Claypool, Renea Jean York, 19, North CR 175E, Warsaw, and Simons Constance, 39, Wildwood Trail, Warsaw. Stackhouse rear-ended York’s vehicle, which caused York’s vehicle to rear-end Constance’s vehicle. Damages up to $10,000.

WARSAW — A Warsaw man is being charged with identity deception after he gave officers his birth name and not the fake name listed on his driver’s license.

Hugo Arturo Ramirez

Hugo Arturo Ramirez, 32, 3699 N CR 175E, Lot 104, Warsaw, is being charged with synthetic identity deception, a level 6 felony, and application fraud, a level 6 felony.

On Feb. 16, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic battery call in Warsaw. Upon arrival the officer talked with the victim who advised her husband, Ramirez, had left the area and most likely went to the other side of the trailer park.

The officer asked all individuals at the location to present their identification cards. The officer asked the homeowner where Ramirez was and the homeowner replied that he was Ramirez. Ramirez had given the officer a state identification card with the name of Elisamuel Reyes Martinez. The photograph on the identification card was the same person identifying himself as Ramirez.

The subject confirmed that he was Ramirez and admitted to using a state identification card with false or fictitious information. Ramirez admitted to going to the BMV in 2016 and providing false information to obtain the state identification card.

Ramirez was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on March 20, with a $5,500 surety and cash bond.

North Manchester Man Arrested For Dealing Meth

KOSCIUSKO — A North Manchester man has been arrested after a traffic stop in Warsaw led to the discovery of drugs and evidence of dealing.

Larry Michael Robison

Larry Michael Robison, 43, 11 Long Lane, North Manchester, is being charged with dealing methamphetamine, a level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

On March 8, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department observed a black Oldsmobile Intrigue with a registration plate belonging to a Pontiac. The driver of the vehicle also failed to use a proper turn signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Country Club Road.

The driver was identified as Robison and a female passenger was also in the vehicle. Robison had an active arrest warrant from Wabash County and was taken into custody.

The officer towed the vehicle and conducted an inventory search. Inside the vehicle the officer discovered a cut pen and a straw with white residue, two plastic baggies with a crystal-like substance and multiple empty baggies used to package illegal drugs. The crystal-like substance weighed 59.7 grams, was field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine.

Robison is scheduled to appear for an initial hearing on March 29.

Claypool Man Arrested As Second Suspect In Elkhart Walmart Incident

CLAYPOOL —  The second subject reported as a suspicious person at a Walmart parking lot the morning of Wednesday, March 21, has been identified.

Seth Aaron Carlos Allen

Seth Aaron Carlos Allen, 28, Claypool, was found to have a warrant for his arrest for felonies of possession of a handgun and for delivering a controlled substance – methamphetamine, was taken into custody by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail.

Allen is scheduled to appear in federal court at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23. Local charges for Allen are being requested through the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for conspiracy to impersonate a public servant, a level 6 felony, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, a Level 3 Felony. The investigation is ongoing as investigators continue to search for the third party involved in this incident.

Joseph P. Gerber, 37, Warsaw, was arrested yesterday, March 21, and incarcerated at the Elkhart County Correctional facility for unlawful possession of a police radio, a class B misdemeanor; carrying a handgun without a permit, a class A misdemeanor; obliterating identifying marks on a handgun, felony; and for conspiracy to commit armed robbery, a level 5 felony. 

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a complaint of suspicious persons who were parked in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot located at 30830 Old US Highway 20 in Elkhart. Upon officers’ arrival, two subjects were located in the vehicle with a handgun found in plain view. Officers continued their investigation and learned that a third subject had entered into the store which prompted officers to evacuate and search the building in an attempt to locate this individual. Officers were not able to find the third person and store video confirmed that the subject in question had already left the premises. 

The Sheriff’s Department applauds the quick actions of employees to report suspicious activity which allowed for early police intervention into this situation.

Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

6:29 a.m. Thursday, March 22, South Packerton Road, north of East CR 400S, Warsaw. Driver: Michelle D. Malott, 42, North Lagro Road, Marion. Malott told police she was driving northbound on Packerton Road when a deer struck her vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.

4:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, South County Farm Road, south of West Hoppus Road, Warsaw. Driver: Sydney C. Fox, 17, South County Farm Road, Claypool. Fox told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on County Farm Road and as the road made a slight curve to the left, she failed to negotiate the curve and the passenger’s side tires went off the east side of the road. Fox said she overcorrected and the vehicle spun around, left the west side of the road and rolled over, coming to rest on its top. She was not injured in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.

6:50 p.m. Monday, March 19, East CR 700N, west of North Harper Road, Leesburg. Driver: John M. Asher, 26, East CR 1300N, Syracuse. Asher told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 700N when he lost control of his vehicle in the gravel, causing it to strike a utility pole and end up on its top. Asher and two passengers in the vehicle were all transported to area hospitals with various injuries. Damage up to $10,000.

9 a.m. Friday, March 16, SR 25, north of CR 700W, Burket. Drivers: Shelby J. Koldyke, 28, West CR 600S, Mentone, Deborah J. Avery, 46, West CR 250S, Warsaw. Koldyke told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on CR 700W, when the vehicle slid through the intersection and lightly struck Avery’s vehicle. Damage under $750.

Warsaw

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

10:14 a.m. Thursday, March 22, North Detroit Street, north of Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kala R. Bailey, 17, North Shaffer Street, Milford, Janely J. Patino, 26, 15th Street, Winona Lake. Bailey told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on Detroit Street when she attempted to change lanes. Bailey told police she checked her mirrors but did not look out the side of the vehicle. Her vehicle side swiped Patino’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

3:16 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, North Buffalo Street and East Main Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Cheryl D. Harshman, 40, East CR 300S, Akron, Christian T. Raish, 18, Highlander Drive, Warsaw. Both drivers told police they stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Buffalo and Main streets. Both drivers proceeded into the intersection and both vehicles collided. Damage up to $5,000.

  • 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 5800 block of South Maple Grove Lane, Warsaw. Police investigated a report of invasion of privacy at the residence of Michaela L. Harris.
  • 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2400 block of North CR 200W, Warsaw. Police were called to Frontline Manufacturing in reference to a terminated employee that the business was afraid would return.
  • 7:17 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2100 block of SR 13, Pierceton. Police took a report from Amanda Hall about her vehicle being side-swiped.
  • 2:59 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 400 block of East CR 1150N, Milford. Police responded to a report of criminal mischief, a broken window at the residence of Jason D. Huston.
  • 10:21 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 900 block of East CR 350N, Warsaw. A traffic stop was conducted and an arrest for operating while intoxicated was made.

  • Midnight Monday, March 19, 100 block of North West Street, Milford. Police investigated a report by Carl Fischer that a fraudulent check was issued for payment for a classic car. Value: $55,000.

  • 9:28 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 500 block of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Police served a warrant and made an arrest.

Incarcerated Man Arrested For Stalking Ex-Wife, Violating Protective Order

Mitchell P. Hall

KOSCIUSKO — An incarcerated man was arrested after contacting his ex-wife through Facebook messages and phone calls, violating a protective order.

Mitchell Patrick Hall, 46, 201 N. Second St., Wolcottville, is being charged with stalking, a level 5 felony; invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement invasion of privacy, a level 6 felony.

On March 21, 2016, Hall’s ex-wife obtained a protective order against him. The order prohibited Hall from stalking, harassing or contacting her. On Sept. 23, 2016, Hall was convicted of invasion of privacy, with the victim being Hall’s ex-wife.

On Nov. 14 and 15, 2016, a male subject contacted Hall’s ex-wife at the request of Hall.

On May 25, 2017, officers were searching inmates at the Kosciusko County jail when they discovered Hall had a cellular phone on him.

Officers spoke with Hall’s ex-wife, who stated that she was receiving calls daily from the jail and that Hall sent her Facebook messages on May 22, 2017.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Feb. 23, March 7, and April 3, 2017, a female subject sent Facebook messages to the ex-wife at Hall’s request.

On. Dec. 12, 2017, Hall bonded from the jail. The next day, Hall texted his ex-wife several times. On Dec. 15, 2017, Hall texted, called her, and posted comments on her Facebook.

His ex-wife received ten calls from him in a two-day period.

Hall was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on March 21, with a $21,449 surety and cash bond.

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

2:49 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 1851 North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Robert O. Payne, 74, County Road 4, Booneville, Miss. Payne drove into a business lot and then left and returned. He didn’t realize that his vehicle backed into a parked and unoccupied vehicle while leaving. Damage up to $5,000.

4:06 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, North Detroit Street, north of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Jeffery M. Winkle, 55, East Wooster Road, Warsaw, and Nicole D. Sellers, 48, North Jefferson Street, Silver Lake. Winkle was traveling north on North Detroit Street, while Sellers was traveling south. Winkle fell asleep, and his vehicle crossed the center line, struck a roadway sign, and went into the southbound lanes of Detroit Street. There was a head-on collision between Winkle’s and Sellers’ vehicles. Damage up to $25,000.

 

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:

5:39 p.m. Thursday, March 22, SR 15, south of Chevy Way. Drivers: Jose Juarez, 36, North CR 175 East 165, Warsaw, and Shelby A. Layne, 27, Kinney Drive, Warsaw. Juarez was traveling north on SR 15 when he attempted to merge into the left lane and collided with Layne’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

  • 10:24 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 9600 block East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Whitley County.
  • 5:46 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 8200 block East US 30, Pierceton. Kris Doub reported fraud.
  • 3:45 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 100 block EMS B61F Lane, Warsaw. Jason J. Locke reported home improvement fraud.
  • 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 100 block North Washington Street, Warsaw. Sally J. Hobbs reported that she had several prescription medications taken from her.

 

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following incidents:

  • 10:20 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2100 block East Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Police responded to a report of battery.
  • 9:13 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 900 block East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Kevin L. Howard reported theft, fraud, and damage to property. A credit card was stolen and a television was damaged.

Two Shot In Fulton County

FULTON COUNTY  — Two men were shot in the early morning hours today Friday, March 23.

Glenn Charles Linderman, 36, Plymouth, and Brady Douglas Lemer, 24, Culver, are listed in stable condition at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Just after midnight, Fulton County 911 received a call from a male who reported he had been shot near the area of SR 17 and CR 700N, in Fulton County, near a residence. Responders were sent to that location and found not only one male, but a second male at a residence on SR 17.

Fulton County sheriff’s deputies, Culver Police, Aubbeenaubbee Township Fire Department and Lutheran Medics were able to provide medical assistance. Both men were flown by Samaritan Air, which landed on SR 17 near the scene.

An investigation into the shooting has been initiated by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and details are very limited at this time. No motive for the shooting as been determined. More details will be provided as the investigation continues.


Fort Wayne Man Arrested After Pointing A Handgun At His Mother-In-Law

Ambrotin Lee Arnold

KOSCIUSKO — A Fort Wayne man was arrested after slapping his mother-in-law and pointing a handgun at her.

Ambrotin Lee Arnold, 40, 2712 W. Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne, is being charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; domestic battery with a child under sixteen present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On Nov. 14, 2017, officers responded to a report of intimidation and battery.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Arnold and his mother-in-law got into a verbal argument. Arnold slapped her and also pushed her husband to the floor.

Arnold went outside and his mother-in-law followed him. He pointed a small handgun at her and said, “I will shoot you.”

His three children were present when the battery occurred.

Arnold was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a warrant on March 22, with an $11,000 surety and cash bond.

3:55 p.m. Friday, March 23, SR 15, south of Jaylynn Street. Drivers: Cindi G. Fluke, 64, Western Drive, Winona Lake, and Wendy M. Bussard, 37, East Clark Street, Warsaw. Fluke stated that she was attempting to change lanes and collided with Bussard’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

3:13 p.m. Friday, March 23, SR 15, north of Tiger Lane. Drivers: Kevin T. Dailey, 18, South Wausau Street, Warsaw, and Jack A. Williamson, 16, Wildwood Lane, Winona Lake. Williamson was traveling north on SR 15 and stopped to wait for pedestrians to clear the roadway. Dailey’s vehicle impacted the rear of Williamson’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.             

2:40 p.m. Friday, March 23, East Smith Street, east of South Maple Avenue. Drivers: David R. Hoagland, 50, South CR 675W, Warsaw, and E.A. Farmer, 32, West Woodland Drive, Warsaw. Hoagland was driving east on East Smith Street and was transporting passenger Jennifer L. Cullins, 47, via Fast Cab taxi services. Hoagland received a cell phone call and looked down. He didn’t realize that Farmer’s vehicle was stopped for traffic, and Hoagland’s vehicle drove into the rear center of Farmer’s vehicle. Farmer complained of pain in his body and neck area and was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital. Collins complained of pain in her back area, but declined medical attention on-scene. Damage up to $5,000.

2:18 p.m. Friday, March 23, North SR 15, near Anchorage Road. Drivers: Connie L. Dragan, 72, North 2nd Trail, North Webster, and Woody R. Huffman, 66, East CR 500N, North Webster. Both vehicles believed they had the right-of-way at the intersection of Anchorage Road and North Detroit Street. A witness stated that Dragan’s vehicle failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of Huffman’s vehicle, causing a collision. Damage up to $10,000.

12:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, US 30, east of North Parker Street. Driver: Samantha K. Jarrett, 26, Frontage Road 76, Warsaw. Jarrett was traveling west on US 30 when she got in a right turn lane to travel north on North Parker Street. As she approached the intersection, a maroon vehicle attempted to enter the lane, causing a collision. Jarrett said that the other driver of the vehicle appeared to not realize they had had a traffic accident. Damage up to $5,000.

  • 12:22 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2600 block North SR 13, Pierceton. Police responded to a report of domestic battery.
  • 9:58 a.m. Friday, March 23, 8700 block West CR 1250S, Akron. Police responded to a report of a drug overdose and possession of a syringe.
  • 1:13 a.m. Friday, March 23, 1900 block of North Brook Boulevard, Warsaw. Officers responded to a report of shots fired.
  • 8:18 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 200 block of North Monroe Street, Sidney. Officers responded to the report of a man urinating in the front yard of a residence. 

Milford

Officers with the Milford Police Department investigated the following incident:

  • 12:52 p.m. Friday, March 23, 11000 block North SR 15 and West CR 1100N, Milford. Police made a traffic stop and found the driver was driving while suspended with prior.

Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following incident:

  • 11:17 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 100 block East Haiden Drive, Syracuse. Lacey L. High, reported criminal trespassing.

 

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following incident:

  • 9:31 a.m. Friday, March 23, 300 block Pieta Street, Warsaw. Police responded to a report of domestic battery.
