Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Saturday, June 29, 8:50 a.m. Pierceton Road, Pierceton. Drivers: Theldon R. Burt, 77, 4850 E. 350 S., Pierceton; Eric P. Cusick, 16, 2302 Eastwood Rd., Winona Lake. Burt was stopped at a stop sign waiting for bicycle traffic to pass due to the annual triathlon when he pulled out in front of a single rider, Cusick. Neither were hurt as a result of the accident but Cusick’s bike did sustain damage. Damages: up to $1,000
Saturday, June 29, 11:05 p.m. N. SR 13 and E. Old Rd. 30, Piercton. Drivers: Alex J. Valentine, 52, E. Van Ness Rd., Pierceton; and Bradly J. Kincaid, 26, N. Line St., Columbia City. Kincaid was stopped at the Old Rd. 30 intersection when he was rear ended by Valentine. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, June 30, 3 a.m. US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Steven D. Lock, 54, S. Ridgeview Ct., Warsaw. Police received a report of a personal injury crash on US 30 near Van Ness Road. Lock was traveling west on US 30 east of Van Ness Road when he ran off the northern edge of the roadway and struck a tree. Lock states that he fell asleep while driving. Extensive damaged was sustained to the vehicle and Lock sustained chest and head injuries as a result of the crash. Lock was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. Damages: up to $50,000
Sunday, June 30, 12:23 p.m. N. 900 E. and EMS W23A Ln., Warsaw. Driver: Samantha M. Frye, 30, EMS W23 Ln., North Webster. Frye was westbound on W23A Ln., at the intersection of 900 E. when the brakes failed on her vehicle causing her to go into a stagnent water pond. Damages: up to $2,500
