Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Saturday, July 19, 1:24 p.m. North SR 15, Milford. Driver: Andrew N. Brunson, 39, Pine Arbor Drive, Elkhart. Brunson said he may have fallen asleep at the wheel. A witness said he was southbound on SR 15 when he saw Brunson’s northbound vehicle cross the center line, then make a sharp turn back to the east, leave the road and overturn. Brunson was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for evaluation. Damages: up to $10,000

Saturday, July 19, 12:33 p.m. East 500 North and North Sullivan Road, North Webster. Drivers: Bonnie E. Whittecar, 85, Plantation Drive, Columbia City; and Joshua M. Berger, 33, East Main Street, Silver Lake. Whittecar said she was stopped at the intersection and failed to see Berger’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damages: up to $10,000

Saturday, July 19, 1:53 a.m. North Morgan Street north of Maple Street, Mentone. Drivers: Keith D. Hunter, 57, Fletcher Avenue, Indianapols; and Christopher B. Moss, 28, North Morgan Street, Mentone. Hunter was southbound on Morgan Street when his vehicle left the road and struck a wooden fence. He continued through the yard of the residence at 515 N. Morgan St., striking a septic PVC cap before stopping at the back property line of the residence. Moss pulled in behind Hunter, but Hunter backed into the Moss vehicle. Hunter had allegedly been drinking and was given an alcohol test. Damages: up to $5,000

Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Saturday, July 19, 6:28 p.m. East Center and North Reed streets. Driver: Drew A. Horn, 26, Pike Shore Drive, Warsaw. Horn was operating a mo-ped with his 3-year-old son sitting on his lap. The boy had his hands on the handlebars on top of Horn’s. The boy got scared when they started to accelerate, pulling the handlebars and causing the mo-ped to strike a curb. The child suffered head/facial bleeding and had a tooth knocked out from hitting the pavement. Horn suffered bleeding to both arms and his face from sliding on the roadway. Neither was wearing a helmet or eye protection. Horn was cited for failing to abide by Indiana law, which requires a child less than 18 to wear a helmet and protective eye wear. Damages: up to $25,000

Saturday, July 19, 1:11 a.m. Husky Trail and Whitetail Run. Driver: Andrew D. Rumfelt, 36, CR 56, Syracuse. Rumfelt was responding to an emergency call for service when a deer ran in front of his police vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
