Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Friday, June 14, 6:30 a.m. East U.S. 30 near South 900 East, Pierceton. Driver: Kenneth B. Hess, 47, East Smith Street, Columbia City. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500

Friday, June 14, 5:22 a.m. North SR 15 north of West 800 North, Milford. Drivers: Debbie S. McNees, 31, North Park Avenue, Warsaw; and Teresa J. Cervantes, 42, Church Street, Leesburg. Both drivers were traveling north on SR 15 when McNees struck the rear of Cervantes’ vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000

Thursday, June 13, 7:13 p.m. South 450 West north of West Union Street, Warsaw. Driver: Ryan D. Dewitt, Dewitt was driving his motorcycle southbound on South 450 West when a dog ran into his path. Dewitt struck the dog, then ran off of the road and was ejected from the motorcycle. He suffered a shoulder/arm abrasion. The dog was killed. Damages: up to $2,500

Thursday, June 13, 3:59 p.m. North SR 13 and CR East 1000 North, Syracuse. Driver: Richard M. Spiegelberg, 59, Nappanee. Driver said another vehicle turned left in front of him. He attempted to avoid a collision by swerving, which resulted in him overcorrecting and losing control of his vehicle, collided with an embankment. A witness told police there was no other vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000

Thursday, June 13, 8:48 p.m. South 600 West and West 700 South, Claypool. Unknown driver. A Jeep Wrangler was determined to be southbound on CR 700 West and, for an unknown reason, went off the the side of the road, then overcorrected and struck a tree. The driver of the Jeep fled the scene before police arrived. Police located a separate set of tire tracks in a yard at the scene. The Jeep left at the scene was registered to Adam Graf of Larwill. Damages: up to $5,000

Thursday, June 13, 9:51 p.m. North Kalorama Road near East 750 North, Leesburg. Driver: Jordan S. Brown, . Brown was on North Kalorama Road when he struck standing water in the road. He lost control of the vehicle and slid off of the road and onto the Tippecanoe Country Club Golf Course, coming to rest in a sand bunker. Damages: up to $5,000

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accident:

Thursday, June 13, 4:45 p.m. Jefferson and McKinley streets. Drivers: Grahan D. Rankin, 81, Country Club Dr., Warsaw; and Heather B. Perach, 20, West Center Street, Warsaw. Rankin was southbound on McKinley and proceeded through a stop sign into Perach’s path. Damages: up to $5,000
