Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, May 18, 12:12 p.m. SR 19 near West 200 South, Mentone. Driver: Gerald L. Troyer, 60, Heather Blvd., Nappanee. Driver struck a deer. Troyer was on a motorcycle, which went on its side and slid off the road after impact. Troyer was flown to Parkview Hospital. Damages: up to $25,000
Sunday, May 18, 6:39 a.m. SR 15 near West 600 North, Leesburg. Driver: Cordel D. King, 18, Higbee Street, Milford. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, May 17, 11:39 p.m. SR 15 near Dawn Drive, Silver Lake. Driver: Donna J. Beck, 53, Rochester. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, May 17, 9:40 p.m. South 700 West near West 850 South, Warsaw. Driver: Ricky J. Francis, 52, Osprey Drive, Mentone. Francis’s vehcile left the road and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $10,000
Saturday, May 17, 4:51 p.m. Old Road 30 near 600 East, Warsaw. Driver: Christopher Boutcher, 29, Hickory Street, North Webster; Stan E. Budd, 32, US 33, Ligonier. Boutcher rear-ended Budd and fled the scene. Budd was able to get a plate number, and Boutcher was located by officers. Boutcher admitted to leaving the scene and alcohol was determined to be a factor in the accident. Damages: up to $2,500.
Saturday, May 17, 9:48 a.m. East 450 North near North 375 East, Leesburg. Driver: Amanda L. Fretz, 38, Sawgrass Lane, Leesburg. Driver struck a deer and drove off the roadway, striking a mailbox and utility pole. Fretz was transported to KCH for pain in her hand and fingers. Damages: up to $10,000
Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m. Defreese Road near North 300 East, Leesburg. Driver: Trina A. Tavernier, 50, EMS D 18 C Lane, Syracuse. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, May 16, 4:55 p.m. Hatchery Road near Denzel Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Michele S. Creech, 35, Denzel Drive, Syracuse. Creech’s vehicle exited the roadway and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, May 16, 4:06 p.m. SR 15 near South 150 West, Warsaw. Drivers: Bradley I. Bibler, 19, Shaffer Road, Warsaw; Laura L. Wittner, 35, Walnut, Roann. Bibler veered across the center line after checking his cellphone, resulting in a collision with Wittner. Wittner and her passenger, Wesley L. Shaefer of Silver Lake, were treated by EMS at the scene. Damages: up to $25,000

Friday, May 16, 2:59 p.m. SR 15 near West 1350 North, Milford. Drivers: Pamela S. Cochran, 49, Prairie Street, Warsaw; Earl R. Sizemore, 37, Gregory Drive, Elkhart. Cochran collided with Sizemore. Damages: up to $2,500

Friday, May 16, 10:21 p.m. Detroit Street near Jalynn Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Brent J. Edwards, 31, Dogleg Drive, Syracuse; Megan C. Jackson, 17, Old U.S. 31, Rochester. Edwards pulled into the intersection causing Jackson to collide with his vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, May 16, 4:18 p.m. Center Street near Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Driver: Terry P. Wood, 48, Blue Spruce Court, Warsaw. Wood struck a parked car registered to Grant D. Cunningham of Warsaw. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, May 16, 3:26 p.m. Detroit Street near Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Harley H. Bentley, 18, Burkhart Drive, Warsaw; David S. Terry, 54, Woodland Drive, Warsaw. Bentley attempted a lane change and collided with Terry, who was in her blind spot. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, May 16, 10:18 a.m. Dubois Drive near Provident Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: John D. Skeel, 70, Cherry Ave., Winona Lake; Maureen K. Mauzy, 66, North 600 East, Warsaw; Tracie L. Smith-Hodson, 36, South 750 West, Claypool; and Londa K. Yost, 65, Vicky Lane, Warsaw. Skeel collided with Mauzy, causing Mauzy to collide with Smith-Hodson, and debris from the collisions struck Yost’s vehicle. Damages: up to $25,000

Saturday, May 17, 8:13 p.m. Argonne Road near Winona Avenue, Winona Lake. Drivers: Austin R. McLeod, 22, Winchester Court, Winona Lake; Heather D. Stevens, 22, Beaver Dam Road, Claypool; Jamie R. Mannis, 35, Albert Street, Argos; and Sheryl L. Harlan, 38, West 250 South, Warsaw. McLeod rear-ended Stevens, causing her vehicle to strike Mannis’s, and Mannis’s vehicle to strike Harlan’s. Damages: up to $25,000
