Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, March 16, 8:31 p.m. East 500 North and North 700 East, Leesburg. Driver: Kyler D. Mylin, 26, North 175 East, Warsaw. Mylin was westbound on 500 North when a vehicle passed him going the same direction, but cut him off due to an oncoming vehicle. Mylin swerved to avoid a collision and drove into a utility pole and field. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, March 16, 12:08 p.m. South 600 West near SR 25, Mentone. Driver: Kevin F. Good, 16, Martin Drive, Mentone. Good was rounding a curve when a black SUV attempted to pass him and ran him off the road and into a guard rail. The other vehicle did not stop after the incident. Damages: up to $5,000
Sunday, March 16, 11:54 a.m. 3000 block of Armstrong Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Patricia Sattison, 75, East South Barbee, Warsaw; and Cody M. Bixler, 18, Rivercrest Drive, Warsaw. Sattison backed into Bixler. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, March 15, 8:39 a.m. West 1350 North near North 60 West, Milford. Driver: Cameron L. Leffert, 63, Dellview Drive, Warsaw. Leffert lost control of her vehicle on ice covered roadways and struck a NIPSCO utility pole. Leffert was transported to KCH by Multi-Township EMS. Milford Fire Department assisted at the scene. Damages: up to $25,000
Saturday, March 15, 5:43 a.m. U.S. 30 near North 650 West, Atwood. Driver: Richard Gensch, 45, Washington Street, Pierceton. The vehicle in front of Gensch braked abruptly to avoid a deer. Gensch swerved to avoid a collision, drove off the road and slid down the embankment. There were no injuries and minimal damage to the right front bumper of Gensch’s vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000
Friday, March 14, 8:46 p.m. US 30 near Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Kevin A. Plummer, 55, Franklin Avenue, Fort Wayne. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, March 14, 9:39 a.m. U.S. 30 near North 200 West, Warsaw. Drivers: Brittani Ridarski, 23, 14th Street, Rockford, Ill.; and Thomas Bruce, 59, Bassett Street, Rochester, Mass. Ridarski was eastbound on U.S. 30 when her vehicle started shaking, causing her to lose control. Ridarski’s vehicle crossed the median and entered oncoming traffic, colliding with Bruce’s vehicle. Witnesses stated that Ridarski’s passenger-side rear tire “gave out” and was discovered worn, damaged and flat by officers. Ridarski was treated by EMS for abrasions to her arm. Atwood Fire Department assisted at the scene. Damages: up to $25,000
Friday, March 14, 6:41 a.m. East 450 North near North 250 East, Warsaw. Driver: Brian L. Bradley, 33, Washington Street, North Webster. Bradley struck a pothole and lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, striking a Kosciusko REMC pole. Bradley was transported by Multi-Township EMS to KCH for leg pain. Plain Township Fire Department assisted at the scene. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, March 14, 5:55 a.m. SR 15 near West 350 South, Warsaw. Driver: Brad E. Masterson, 31, Walnut Street, Claypool. Masterson lost control of his vehicle on icy roads, left the roadway and struck a tree. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, March 14, 2:15 a.m. East 200 North near Boeing Road, Warsaw. Driver: John M. Croy, 27, East 300 North, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
North Webster Police Department
Officers of the North Webster Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Saturday, March 15, 7:42 a.m. East 500 North near EMS T12 Lane, North Webster. Driver: Stephanie Bonilla, 18, Highland Lane, Leesburg. Bonilla lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway, spun off the road and struck a NIPSCO utility pole. Damages: up to $2,500
Syracuse Police Department
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Friday, March 14, 10:23 p.m. Huntington Street near Palm Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Maverick S. Bailey, 20, 4th Street, Milford. Bailey claimed that his vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle and forced into a ditch at the intersection. It was later determined that alcohol was a factor in the incident, and witnesses stated that there was no vehicle behind Bailey’s vehicle. Officers did not notice any damage to the rear of Bailey’s vehicle. Bailey and his passenger both sustained injuries to their face and were treated by EMS. Damages: up to $25,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, March 16, 4:01 p.m. Anchorage Road and North Sunset Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Allison J. Wentworth, 29, South Briarwood Drive, Warsaw; and Sandra L. Hubler, 66, Sophie Lane, Warsaw. Wentworth put her vehicle in reverse while stopped for a train and collided with Hubler. Hubler began having chest pains from the excitement of the accident. Damages: up to $2,500
Sunday, March 16, 1:39 a.m. Lake City Highway near Old Road 30, Warsaw. Driver: Cassandra M. Martinez, 18, Old State Road 15, Milford. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, March 15, 4:47 a.m. Hand Avenue near Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Officers responded to a report of a U-Haul truck stuck under the viaduct at Hand Avenue. When officers arrived on scene they discovered the vehicle abandoned. The vehicle was rented to Sean Carver, but was reported stolen around the time of the incident. The truck was dislodged from the viaduct by Riechert-Knepp Towing and towed to Warsaw Police Department. The truck sustained significant damage to the roof. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, March 14, 11:13 p.m. Zimmer Road near Zimmer Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Jamie T. Stalter, 24, Pierceton Road, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, March 14, 5:23 p.m. 300 block of Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Domingo P. Brito, 71, EMS D23 Lane, Syracuse. Brito struck a parked car, registered to Southwest Auto Sales in Roanoke, while backing out of a parking space at McDonald’s on Detroit Street. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, March 14, 4:41 p.m. Detroit Street near Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: unknown; Melanie J. Pinter, 34, Sherman Street, Bremen; and Kathy L. Slone, 48, 700 South, Claypool. Pinter and Slone were stopped on the exit ramp from U.S. 30 onto Detroit Street while an emergency vehicle passed. Pinter stated that an older model, full size pickup truck, driven by a slender white male wearing a hat, rear-ended her, causing her vehicle to rear-end Slone’s vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, March 14, 1:04 p.m. 2500 block of Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Esmeralda A. Cruz, 59, 250 South, Warsaw; and Anna B. Burnett, 86, Park Avenue, Warsaw. Cruz was exiting the Radio Shack parking lot and collided with Burnett. Both parties declined medical treatment. Damages: up to $5,000
