WARSAW — Warsaw Police arrested a 34-year-old man on five charges early today, Monday, Jan. 4.
Jeffery R. Price, 34, with addresses shown of 720 W. Center St., 1054 Pike Short Drive, Warsaw, and 3845 E. Lakeview Trail, Leesburg, has been arrested on charges of possession of a narcotic drug, two counts of forgery, all level six felonies; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; theft, a class A misdemeanor. The charges were filed in Kosciusko Circuit Court and Kosciusko Superior Court 1.
On Nov. 24 documents were filed in Kosciusko Circuit Court against Price for possession of a narcotic drug and possession of marijuana. The affidavit of probable cause states Warsaw Police had received information that Price was in possession of heroin and intoxicated. Police located Price and while speaking with him to determine the level of intoxication, the officer observed a bag containing a green leafy substance sticking out of Price’s pocket.
Price was searched and the bag removed. The bag contained six grams of marijuana. Police also found a container containing a dry gray rock like substance, weighing one gram. Price admitted the substance was heroin and he had purchased it earlier in the morning for $220. Price also told police he had taken Klonopin earlier in the morning.
Two charges of forgery and a charge of theft were filed on Nov. 30 in Kosciusko Superior Court 1. The affidavit of probable cause states Adessa Williams notified police after finding two checks he did not write. Each check was for $200 paid to the order of Price. Williams stated Price helps him around the house and he pays Price in cash. The checks were written on Oct. 16 and Oct. 19. The investigation revealed the signatures on the checks were not that of Williams and a video surveillance identified Price as the person cashing the checks.
He is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $10,000 surety and $500 cash bonds.
