WABASH COUNTY — Carl William Burt, 63, 7194 W. Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw, is now wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of Wabash County.
According to Wabash County officials, Burt bonded out on his charge of reckless homicide, after being transferred from Kosciusko County Jail to Wabash County Jail. The warrant was issued after he failed to appear for his initial hearing earlier this week.
Burt was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 3, by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies on the initial warrant. The charge has been confirmed it was in connection with the July 18, 2013 fatal accident, which took the life of Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan, 61, Warsaw. The warrant was issued in November. The reckless homicide charge is a level 4 felony.
Rudisel-Jordan died from injuries in that two-vehicle accident on SR 15, just south of Silver Lake in Wabash County. According to a press release on the day of the accident, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department was called at 3:03 p.m. of a head-on crash, just north of CR 1400N in Wabash County.
Preliminary investigation showed a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Burt, crossed the center line and hit Rudisel-Jordan’s 2013 Ford Focus. The accident was in a stretch of road that is in a no passing zone for southbound vehicles.
Burt was airlifted to Parkview Hospital with unknown injuries and was in stale condition.
Rudisel-Jourdan was serving on the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals, president of the Warsaw Community Development Corporation and owner of Scearce Rudisel Architects Inc. She and her husband Jim, established the Way Maker Trust Fund through the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
