UPDATE: Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire Department and EMS, Syracuse and North Webster Police departments and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of an armed man outside a residence at 9485 N. SR 13, Syracuse, later finding a vehicle on fire in the woods behind the property.

According to Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello, the armed man is suspected of abandoning the vehicle located on the property, and fleeing in a different one. It was also reported that the male suspect had a female with him. It is unclear whether the suspect set the vehicle on fire, or if it was unintentional.

According to Ciriello, Turkey Creek Fire Territory had to delay extinguishing the flames due to the armed suspect fleeing the scene.

Authorities are attempting to locate the suspect at this time.


 

Emergency personnel have been called to 9485 N. SR 13, Syracuse, for a vehicle fire.

An armed individual was reported outside the residence prior to the fire. Law enforcement are attempting to locate the suspect(s) at this time.

Turkey Creek firefighter Kevin Grindle drives the truck, with two fellow firefighters on back, to fill the truck with water. Smoke from the flaming SUV could be seen from SR 13. A Turkey Creek Fire Territory firefighter suits up to assist in combating the blaze.
