Today, Brandon Woody’s attorney, Scott Lennox, filed a motion for a change of venue for Woody’s trial regarding the Feb. 19 murder of Tara Thornburg and Joshua Knisley with the Kosciusko County Court.
In the court documents, Lennox cites the following reasons for the request:
- Public hostility against Woody
- Public outrage over the offense
- Prejudicial news reporting or editorializing which castigates Woody
- Speculative opinions as to the personality and character of the accused
- Prejudicial news coverage of Woody’s prior criminal record
Woody is guaranteed the right to a fair trial by the Sixth and 14th Amendments. Due to the reasons above, it may be a challenge to find 14 jurors who are impartial in the matter.
