Area Accident Reports

Kosciusko

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:

10:44 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, South SR 13, north of South CR 650E, Pierceton. Drivers: Daven P. Gasaway, 17, North Second Street, Warsaw, and Scott E. Bradley, 49, West CR 150S, South Whitley. Injured: Gasaway suffered from a chest injury and was listed in serious but stable condition; passengers in Gasaway vehicle: Brandon I. Cory, 17, Sophie Lane, Warsaw, complaining of shoulder and leg pain, believed to be in stable condition; and Keryn M. Konkle, 13, Fisher Avenue, Warsaw, who was partially ejected from the vehicle, complained of pain to the hip/upper leg area, in stable condition. All three were transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Bradley and two young passengers in his vehicle were not injured. According to the investigating officer, Bradley was traveling south on SR 13 and was rounding the curve near CR 650E when he saw Gasaway’s Audi approaching him in the northbound lane. He told police he felt Gasaway was traveling around 55 miles per hour, too fast for road conditions. Bradley saw Gasaway’s vehicle begin to fishtail and cross the centerline, entering the southbound lane. The vehicle spun around and continued in the southbound lane heading north colliding with Bradley’s vehicle. Officers have not been able to talk with Gasaway. Roads were reported icy due to freezing fog/sleet. Damage was estimated up to $25,000.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

2:25 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, North Detroit Street, north of West CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Joseph S. Smith, 20, EMS C28G Lane, Warsaw, and Alan R. Marcus, 63, North Quentin Road, Palatine, Ill. Smith looked off to the side while driving and hit the back of Marcus vehicle who had slowed for a traffic light. Damage up to $5,000.

1:47 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, East Center Street, east of South Hickory Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Larry R. Jefferies, 77, West CR 550S, Claypool, and Kathryn I. Bouse, 89, West CR 100N, Warsaw. Jefferies had just pulled out onto Center Street, saw Bouse motioning him to pass her. As he began to pass, she swerved toward him, sideswiping his vehicle. Bouse stated she was slowing down because she was trying to get her seat belt fastened after it became unbuckled. When she straightened up her vehicle was in the eastbound lane and the front driver side corner hit the passenger side of the Jefferies vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
